Temple Newsam Golf Club was founded in 1923, some 5 months before the course opened.

The inaugural meeting of the club was held on 8th February 1923 at the Hotel Metropole in Leeds. The actual minutes from the meeting, pictured below, were signed by the first Chairman of the club, Mr. A. G. Baker.
